Another year, another trip to the state fair. The amount of fried food that is consumed is just gross -- we leave there just feeling sick to our stomachs. The bucket of cookies, fried cheese curds and the fried green tomatoes are always a favorite -- we didn't make it to the fried snickers this year. We got there early and left by 2:00. That made the day more enjoyable -- we were out of there by the time the crowds got overwhelming.
All of the kids got to pick out 4-5 rides they wanted to ride. Ashley's favorite is the Ferris wheel, Blake wanted to ride all of the plane rides, Lindsey wanted to ride the fast ones and TJ chose to use his tickets on the games. We also saw all of the animals. Blake was scared of the horses and Ashley loved them. She asked me if she could take riding lessons.
We had a great time with our friends/neighbors the Hardy's and the Lanier's. We were one big crew of kids making our way through the fair.
I was sad to see our summer come to an end. I have enjoyed having the kids home this summer. I remember several years ago counting the days for school to start and a good friend told me as her kids got older she dreaded the schedule and activities that school brought. I think I have reached that stage where I dread the schedule and activities that school brings to our family life. We had a great summer and I was sad to send them off to school today.
